Jewelry Shanghai 2011
~ Wendy Fung, Hong Kong Office Manager
The Chinese market for jewelry in general, and diamonds, in particular, is growing rapidly. Thanks to rising prosperity, the newly wealthy Chinese population is willing to pay even more than Americans for luxury items. The demand, often for diamonds of the highest quality, is increasing year after year.
Seeking to expand their presence in the red-hot China diamond market, members of YDI’s Hong Kong office participated in the Jewelry Shanghai show from June 16-19 at the New International Expo Centre.
As the center of the Chinese diamond trade, the show in Shanghai was an effective opportunity to meet with local Chinese buyers looking to purchase diamonds. With over 1,000 exhibitors, YDI staff members enjoyed meeting these merchants, many of whom came from the cities of Shanghai and Shenzhen, as well as the more rural Northern regions of China.
Reactions were extremely positive as visitors to the YDI booth checked out the company’s extensive inventory, learned about the convenient assortment code and discovered the company’s high quality diamond merchandise.
