CODE OF ETHICS
Our reputation and integrity depend not only on how we treat our customers, but also how we treat our employees and the world around us. At YDI, we value the responsibility that comes with being a key player in the industry. We strive to uphold the highest ethical standards and foster relationships built on mutual commitments to ethical business practices.
YDI is dedicated to implementing and enforcing the requirements of the DeBeers Best Practice Principles (BPP) Assurance Program, as well as the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) Code of Practice, In order to maintain consumer confidence in the diamond product. These standards ensure that the diamond source is conflict-free, that employee working conditions at our polishing facilities and offices meet stringent requirements, and that we are committed to advancing environmental and social sustainability in alignment with the UN 17 sustainable development goals framework. DeBeers Global Sightholder Sales Ltd. regularly reviews each Sightholder’s compliance with their strict code of business conduct.
Furthermore, YDI is dedicated to the United Nations-sponsored Kimberley Process (KP), an international certification system for rough diamonds. The process aims to exclude ‘conflict diamonds’ from the market by instituting extensive requirements that confirm that the source of the stones is ethically and legally sound.
As a leading manufacturer and purchaser of rough goods, YDI’s commitment to this system is absolute, dealing exclusively with KP-certified diamonds. YDI collaborates with the Kimberly Process requirements unconditionally.
YDI fully supports and enforces each specific measure of these programs, which help to maintain the integrity of the industry as a whole. The full text of the BPP Code of Conduct is available here.
